This presentation will cover two meaty topics: the evolution of distribution automation from the inception of SCADA in the 1920s to single phase FLISR in 2018 as well as the evolution of Microgrids. We will look at the beginnings of automation, where we are now, and what we see the future holding for distribution automation. We will then look at the history of microgrids and how distribution automation comes into play with microgrids to make them even more reliable and resilient.
